There are a number of simple home remedies that can be put together from ingredients that are found around your house. They are able to effectively treat everything from acne to hair loss. What are these simple home remedies?

Bad breath can be dealt with by taking two teaspoons of crushed caraway seeds, dousing them with two hundred and fifty millilitres of boiling water. Allow it to draw for ten minutes before straining. Drink this concoction in small mouthfuls at the normal meal times.

For gum inflammation or ulceration, place one heaped tablespoonful of dried blueberries into one cup of boiled water. Heat and simmer for ten minutes and then strain. Use this mixture as a mouth rinse every hour. Sage leaves are a good alternative to dried blueberries.

If you suffer from hayfever use the grass from your lawn after it has grown long and is pollinating. Make regular infusions and drink one cup of it on a daily basis. The grass is effective either fresh or dried. Ideally start this process about two months before you expect your symptoms to begin.

Pus filled wounds can also be alleviated by the use of horseradish. Use a cold decoction of one hundred grams of grated horseradish, followed by an application of cool honey that has already been heated in a double-boiler to sterilise it.

If you suffer from minor skin blemishes a useful remedy is to use horseradish. Boil one hundred grams of grated horseradish with half a litre of milk. Strain it and allow it to cool and then rub on the skin.

For acne, dermatologists recommend the use of lavender oil for moderate forms of the condition. Use a cotton bud to dab individual spots with the oil several times each day. Other skin irritations can be reduced by using avocado to make a soothing mask for the areas of irritation. Mix the avocado pulp with one teaspoon of goat’s milk or sunflower oil and one teaspoon of goat’s milk yoghurt, and apply it to the skin. Leave it for fifteen minutes and then wash it off.

When suffering from dandruff combine twenty five millilitres of oil of burdock root with one egg yolk and one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Massage the mixture into the scalp and leave it on overnight. Rinse it out the next morning.

Hair loss can be alleviated by whisking one egg yolk five tablespoonfuls of olive oil and ten table spoonfuls of rum. Massage this mixture into your scalp and cover with a shower cap. Leave it on overnight and rinse it out in the morning. Alternatively, massage your scalp frequently with an infusion that has been made stinging nettle leaves or lavender.

For tired eyes, pour one litre of boiling water over four tablespoonfuls of German chamomile flowers and allow it to draw for ten minutes. Place your face over the hot mixture and feel the rising steam on your closed eyes.

If you have sticky eyes, smear curd cheese (room temperature) onto your closed eyes and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Wash the cheese off with liquid mixture made up of one tablespoonful of honey boiled up in two cups of filtered water. Allow to cool. Dunk balls of cotton wool, one at a time into the lukewarm liquid and use it to cleanse the eyes and lids.

Dry lips can be relieved by the simple cucumber. Cut the vegetable into slices and gently massage them over the lips.

For chapped lips, rub thin onion slices (or a garlic clove) over the affected areas. Alternatively you can rub honey into the lips before going to bed.

Getting a good night’s sleep is as significant as having a healthy diet and exercising to keep a healthy body. A good night sleep also makes your skin look fresh. In a busy lifestyle we always try and sacrifice sleep for work but it is very important that you put aside enough hours for some good old-fashioned beauty sleep. The average person needs about eight hours of sleep in a twenty four period.

Drinking Water to Cure Bad Breath

Have you ever suspected that you had bad breath?  You would probably be surprised with the number of times we walk around with this problem and we don’t even realize it.  The receptors in our nostrils that detect odors become desensitized to the own smell from our mouth and this is what makes it so difficult for us to detect it.

If you ever worry about halitosis and suspect that you may have it from time to time, you might want to consider doing this easy cure in order to make sure that it is as limited as possible.

One of the first things that you should do is to make sure that you keep good oral hygiene at all times.  This would include brushing after every meal, flossing regularly and seeing the dentist to rule out any other problems.  Something else that you may want to do is drink plenty of water every day.  What is it about water that can help us whenever it comes to fighting halitosis?  The answer might actually surprise you.

Whenever we wake up in the morning, most of us have to deal with bad breath and consider it to be somewhat of a natural occurrence.  We may not really consider why we have bad breath in the morning but the reason why we are dealing with it is actually the underlying cause of why you should drink plenty of water.

During the night, our salivary glands slow down and our mouth dries out naturally.  In this environment, bacteria can easily grow and it begins to feed on things inside of our mouths.  It is the bacteria that is causing the bad breath and once we brush our teeth and rehydrate our mouths, the bad breath tends to go away.

Anytime that we have a dry mouth, regardless of why we have it, it can be a problem that causes halitosis as well.  Drinking water regularly and making sure that we stay hydrated is one way that we can ensure that our mouths are always moist on the inside and that will keep the bad breath away.

Of course, it is still necessary for you to make sure that you are taking care of basic hygiene but by drinking water every day and staying hydrated, you can do a lot to ensure that you are not offending others with your breath.

Avoid caffeine: Try to get out of the habit of drinking coffee a couple of hours before going to bed. Those suffering from insomnia should stop taking caffeine completely. Read the labeling information carefully to see whether it is there in soda, chocolates or even some of the over the counter medicines.

Manipulate light and darkness: When one gets out of bed in the morning, bright light can begin the day right by alerting the brain that day has started. This helps to keep the body’s natural clock in good working order. At night, turning off all lights helps for the same reason.

Treat the bed for doing only the essential activities: of the two most fundamental things to be done on the bed, sleeping is number one in terms of importance. Avoid reading or watch TV or do activities, which ought to have separate rooms for doing. If you retain the functionality of the bed, you would automatically feel like sleeping when you get into it.

 

The bed is not for staying awake: this is in continuation of the earlier hint to drift off. If you cannot go to sleep, it is best to avoid twisting and turning for endless hours. It is much more useful to get up, do something pleasant but restful, and stop thinking about sleep. Strangely, that is just when sleepiness often comes.

Work out judiciously: An insomnia cure could come from doing physical exercises so that the body feels the need to relax and feels adequately tired when it is time to go to sleep. Although exercising is a good way to get sleep, never do any exercise just before you are preparing to go to bed. This stimulates the senses and raises the heart rate which results in the body not being ready for sleep so soon afterwards.

Avoid having a sweet tooth before retiring: candy are meant to boost up your energy and this would not allow you to sleep. It may appear that this would encourage deep sleep, but when blood sugar levels recede soon afterwards, sleep is hindered.

Try with tryptophan foods: Tryptophan foods are basically amino acids which promote the production of serotonin which later transforms into melotonin. Warm milk is an excellent source but other foods also have this.

Use relaxation techniques: There are many assorted types of relaxation techniques that can be employed to start sleep. It only takes about 20 minutes to do the exercises before going to bed which includes progressive muscle relaxation and visualization.

Sore Throat Remedies

I know that a sore throat can be a “Pain” and just a bit of an annoyance, but it can also be a sign of something a little mor serious like an impending cold or ‘flu, or a ‘Strep Throat’, that is Streptococcal pharyngitis, which is an unpleasant infection.

So no matter how mild a sore this appears to be, it’s worthwhile trying to treat it right away, either by a simple throat lozenge or one of the many natural home remedies available today.

My daughter’s favorite trick is to tell me she’s got a sore throat. I know that children and adults alike get them, but I know she doesn’t have one on every single day. My mistake was buying these candy-like sore throat lozenges. She wants to have one every day, but that can’t be good for her. So she tries her best to get me to give her one even when there is nothing wrong. I can usually tell when she’s lying by offering her some other cold medicine I know she doesn’t like. If she is really sick she’ll take it. If she refuses it, I know she just wants to have one of the lozenges for the taste.

A sore throat can happen as the result of a cold or perhaps even strep throat. If you have a sore throat for more than a few days, you should see a doctor to find out if you have strep instead of just the symptoms of a cold or ‘flu. It can also happen to someone who sings or talks a lot.

Those who tend to use their voice a lot can have problems at any time. If you have this problem, you might want to try drinking some lemon tea with some honey in it. This may not work for everyone, but I know a few singers who swear by it and having been a professional entertainer myself for many years, it was a great standby for me.

I have also found that at the onset of a sore throat one or two teaspoonfuls of Colloidal Silver solution, gargled around the throat and then swallowed can have a dramatic effect and often when I’ve taken this at night, the sore throat has vanished in the morning.

A sore throat can also come about when you smoke too much or are perhaps in a smoky bar or room for long periods of time. If you are not a smoker, even a small and very limited exposure to a smoky room can lead to a sore throat. You may be able to remedy this by sucking on a cough drop and avoiding rooms where you know there will be smokers. Though this is hard on nights when you want to go out, there are states that now prohibit smoking in public bars. If you live in one of those states that is something you no longer have to deal with. Here in the UK smoking is banned in all public places, which is a great improvement.

When you have a sore throat as a result of any of these things, or other conditions such as allergies, it might just be something you have to deal with until it goes away. Try to sooth your sore throat with medications and give your voice a rest. I know when I have a problem, my husband jokes that he finally has some peace and quiet. Little does he know, I don’t let a sore throat stop me, there are plenty of other ways to get his attention if I need it.
